The Voice of Nigeria and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening media cooperation, language development, and cultural exchange between both countries.
The agreement signed in Abuja with Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, and the Director of the China Cultural Centre in Nigeria, Yang Jianxing.

Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Voice of Nigeria, Mal Jibrin Baba Ndace, described the partnership as a major step in advancing international media collaboration and deepening bilateral ties between Nigeria and China.

According to him, the partnership will promote Chinese language training, improve broadcasting capacity, encourage professional exchanges, expand content sharing, and support efforts to combat misinformation and disinformation.
Mallam Ndace noted that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reflects the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established between Nigeria and China after engagements between President Tinubu and President Xi Jinping during the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
He also commended the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, for promoting media diplomacy and international cooperation.

The VON Director General explained that the organisation would continue to project Nigeria’s culture, achievements, and aspirations globally while also amplifying Chinese stories in eight languages through its broadcast platforms.
“The agreement comes weeks after Voice of Nigeria signed a separate media cooperation deal with Xinhua News Agency, reinforcing its growing international presence”.
Nigeria and China are currently marking 55 years of diplomatic relations, underscoring a long-standing relationship built on mutual respect, shared development, and strategic cooperation.
