Participants at the ongoing two-week training programme organised by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in Kano have applauded the institution for delivering what they described as a world-class capacity-building experience marked by professionalism, quality facilitation and excellent participant support.

The participants, who are senior civil servants on Grade Levels 13 and 14, said the programme stands out as one of the most valuable professional development opportunities they have attended.

Held at the State Library Conference Hall in Kano, the workshop focuses on strengthening leadership capacity, improving public administration skills and enhancing effective service delivery within government institutions.

Speaking during the programme, participants praised ASCON for engaging experienced facilitators and resource persons whose practical insights and interactive approach enriched the learning experience.

One of the participants, Musa Ibrahim Ahmad (Best Seller), expressed appreciation to the organisers for maintaining high standards throughout the training.

“The facilitators brought practical knowledge and real-life administrative experience that made every session engaging and impactful. We sincerely appreciate Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for restoring opportunities like this that strengthen professionalism within the civil service,” he said.

Musa also commended the Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai-Mota, for her leadership and commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the programme.

Representing the Director-General of ASCON, Mrs. A.O. Olabimitan, Deputy Director in the Training Department, applauded participants for their discipline and active involvement.

“Your enthusiasm and dedication throughout this training demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning and improved public service delivery,” she stated.

Earlier, the Head of the Kano State Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai-Mota, said the initiative was designed to develop a professional, ethical and accountable workforce capable of meeting modern governance demands.

She also acknowledged Governor Yusuf’s continued investment in human capital development through training, retraining and strategic recruitment across the public sector.

Delivering the keynote address through the Secretary to the State Government, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building institutional capacity.

“We will continue to invest in initiatives that improve workforce competence, strengthen public institutions and promote efficient service delivery because a productive civil service remains essential to Kano State’s development,” the Governor stated.

Another participant, Hajiya Hassana Aliyu, praised the organisers for their patience and commitment to ensuring participants benefited fully from every session.

“The organisers exceeded expectations. As the Hausa proverb says, ‘Kwalliya ta biya kuɗin sabulu’ — the outcome truly justified the effort,” she said.

She concluded by offering prayers for continued success for the Kano State Government and the leadership of the state civil service.
