Muslims across various Eid prayer grounds in Kano State marked  Eid-el-Kabir peacefully, as Islamic clerics and traditional leaders preached unity, sacrifice, compassion, and support for the less privileged.

Thousands of worshippers gathered at major Eid grounds across the state to observe the two-unit congregational prayers commemorating Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar.

The festival symbolises the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah before a ram was provided in his place.

At the historic Kofar Mata Eid Ground, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, led the Eid prayers attended by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, government officials, political associates, and other dignitaries.

In his sermon, Emir Sanusi urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of faith, obedience, sacrifice, forgiveness, and compassion, which he described as the essence of Eid-el-Kabir.

He also appealed to wealthy individuals to extend support to the less privileged to enable them partake in the celebration.

Meanwhile, at the Danladi Nasidi Eid Ground, Imam Yahaya Musa Na’abba reminded worshippers that the symbolic sacrifice represents total submission and obedience to Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.

The Imam encouraged Muslims to sustain the spirit of the festival through acts of charity, sharing sacrificial meat with the needy, visiting relatives, exchanging gifts, and continuous recitation of Takbir during and after the festivities.

Many worshippers expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for witnessing another Eid celebration and prayed for lasting peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
