President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new Nigerian Army battalion in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, as part of measures to strengthen security and improve the protection of residents.

The development is expected to enhance the presence of security personnel in the area and support ongoing efforts to tackle criminal activities and other security challenges across the state.

The decision was welcomed by the Kwara State Government, which described the approval as a significant step towards consolidating existing security measures and creating a safer environment for communities.

The state government said the new battalion would also boost the capacity of security agencies to respond promptly to emerging threats and safeguard lives and property.

It added that the establishment of the military formation demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting states in addressing security concerns and maintaining peace.

The government expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the battalion, saying the initiative would contribute to strengthening security architecture across Kwara State.

It also pledged continued collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to ensure effective operations and sustained peace in the state.
