The Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani, has reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to collaborating with the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State chapter, to advance the welfare, empowerment and development of women across the state.

She gave the assurance while receiving members of the association during a courtesy visit to her office in Kano.

The commissioner emphasized the need for strong partnerships in promoting the rights and well-being of women, children and persons with special needs, describing the media as a vital partner in fostering positive social transformation.

Hajiya Amina urged journalists to give greater visibility to the ministry’s programmes and activities, noting that several interventions are already making a meaningful impact on vulnerable populations across Kano State.

According to her, enhanced media coverage would boost public awareness of the ministry’s initiatives and enable more people to benefit from available opportunities.

They appealed to the commissioner to include members of NAWOJ in the ministry’s empowerment programmes, noting that female journalists would benefit from capacity-building and economic empowerment opportunities.

Also speaking, the Director of the Women Affairs Department, Hajiya Bilkisu Shafi’u Jibrin, applauded the commissioner for initiating several people-centred programmes since assuming office.

She expressed optimism that the ministry’s ongoing interventions would further enhance the socio-economic well-being of women and other vulnerable groups across the state.
