The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,350 personnel to strengthen security across Kano State during and after the Yuletide celebrations.

The State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, disclosed this on Tuesday during a news conference held in Kano.

He said the deployment aims to protect lives, property, and critical national assets amid increased travel, market activities and large social gatherings.

Hassan-Agalama said the command had heightened readiness to address phone snatching, thuggery, banditry, kidnapping attempts and other forms of public disorder.

According to him, personnel were strategically deployed across urban, peri-urban and rural areas identified as prone to criminal activities.

“The corps also deployed tactical teams and rapid response units for continuous foot and overt patrols,” he said.

He said patrols covered entry and exit points, markets, major highways, motor parks and other public places across the state.

The commandant said intelligence sharing and operational coordination with other security agencies had been strengthened for effective joint responses.

He urged residents, market associations, transport unions, religious bodies and traditional rulers to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.

Hassan-Agalama warned vandals and criminal gangs against tampering with public or private property, saying breaches of peace would not be tolerated.

“The corps is fully prepared to deal decisively with miscreants and bring them to justice,” he said.

He assured Kano residents of the command’s commitment to professionalism throughout the Yuletide season and beyond.
