Kano Officials Get Boosted Training on Digital Birth Registration

The National Population Commission (NPC), in collaboration with the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), with support from the Government of the Netherlands through UNICEF, has organized a two-day State Refresher Training
The training targets ALGON LGA focal persons and NPC District Civil Registrars (DCRs) from all 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State.

According to the NPC Kano State Director, Balarabe Kabir the initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of state trainers to efficiently cascade knowledge on the Vital Registration application to ward focal points across the 484 wards in the state.
The training targets ALGON LGA focal persons and NPC District Civil Registrars (DCRs) from all 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State.

According to the NPC Kano State Director, Balarabe Kabir the initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of state trainers to efficiently cascade knowledge on the Vital Registration application to ward focal points across the 484 wards in the state.

He explained that, the refresher program focuses on enhancing the use of the Vital Registration application, a key digital tool for electronic birth registration (ECRVS), critical to ensuring every child’s legal identity.

He pointed out that the training will Enhance Technical Proficiency, Strengthen Data Quality as well Equip participants with practical facilitation and mentoring skills

“Clarifying User Protocols Ensuring consistent and standardized procedures for all registrars”

In his remarks the ALGON focal person from Sumaila Local Government, Hamza Garba, described the training as apt, emphasizing that participants will cascade the knowledge to ward focal persons.

Similarly, Deputy Chief Registrar of Kabo Local Government,Umara Barka, described digital birth registration a major catalyst for improving civil registration.

He noted that the training has boosted staff morale and will help elevate birth registration to global standard.

He urged relevant authorities to provide the necessary support to ensure the success of the registration program.

The refresher training reflects ongoing efforts to modernize Nigeria’s civil registration system, ensuring that every child has access to a legal identity from birth.
