The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Management Team has honoured the retirement of Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Tijanni Abe, who bowed out of service after 35 years of meritorious service to the nation.
Abe, who served as the DCG in charge of Human Resource and Development, was celebrated by senior officers and colleagues at the NCS Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja, on August 19, 2026.
Leading the tributes, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, described the retiring officer as a man whose career was defined by faith, calmness, integrity and dedication to duty.
Adeniyi particularly commended Abe for his consistent attitude of gratitude, describing the quality as a reflection of his character and values throughout his years in service.
“You are a man of integrity and integrity pays. May God increase you in wisdom and happiness, and may your years ahead be even more pleasurable. We are all very proud of you, and we wish you well,” the CGC said.
He added that the relationships and bonds built during Abe’s years in the Service would remain beyond his retirement.
Other senior officers who spoke at the ceremony described Abe as a leader who combined professionalism with humility, kindness and compassion.
They noted that despite attaining the rank of Deputy Comptroller-General, Abe remained approachable and supportive of colleagues, with many describing him as a mentor whose conduct positively influenced officers around him.
According to them, his years of service were marked by courage, sacrifice, humility and commitment to the growth of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Responding to the tributes, Abe expressed gratitude to Almighty God for sustaining him throughout his 35-year career.
He also thanked the Comptroller-General and members of the Management Team for their confidence in his abilities and for the support he received throughout his years of service.
The retiring DCG said the honour was a reminder of the relationships and experiences that shaped his career, expressing appreciation to colleagues who contributed to his journey in the Service.

His retirement brings to a close more than three decades of service, leaving behind a record colleagues described as one built on integrity, mentorship, humility and dedication to the Nigeria Customs Service.
