President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that the policy reforms introduced by his administration are opening new opportunities for citizens and laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth.

The President made the remarks on at the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit held at the Conference Centre of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The event brought together governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), party leaders, and other stakeholders, while also serving as a forum to strategise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Declaring the summit open through Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said the gathering offered an opportunity to review the impact of the administration’s economic policies since 2023.

He explained that his government chose a path of fiscal discipline and transparency, addressing long-standing structural challenges to restore confidence in the economy.

According to him, early indicators suggest that the reforms are beginning to produce positive outcomes, with inflation pressures easing, fuel costs showing signs of moderation, and the national currency becoming more stable.

He also pointed to Nigeria’s increasing relevance in global investment discussions, noting that a significant portion of major investment decisions in Africa over the past year were directed toward Nigeria.

The President stressed the importance of public awareness and participation in sustaining reform efforts, urging members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to engage citizens nationwide by explaining government policies and achievements.

He emphasised that effective communication would help counter misinformation and ensure that people understand the rationale behind difficult policy decisions.

Tinubu also referenced key tax reforms designed to support vulnerable populations, encourage business growth, and promote accountability in public finance.

Speaking on the recent executive order concerning remittances to the federation account, he said the measure aims to protect national revenue, eliminate duplication, reduce waste, and improve resource management.

He described the Renewed Hope Ambassadors as an important bridge between government and citizens, tasked with providing accurate information while also relaying community concerns back to policymakers.

In his remarks, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda said the summit represented a pivotal moment for the ruling party, stressing that governance achievements must be effectively communicated to gain public recognition and political value.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who chairs the Progressive Governors Forum and serves as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, noted that the initiative was intended to strengthen party unity and improve citizen understanding of government programmes. He added that projects such as the Dangote Refinery and other indigenous investments are helping Nigeria reduce long-standing challenges in the oil and gas sector.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume encouraged authorities to create room for citizens to contribute meaningfully to national development efforts, while Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Atiku Bagudu described the Renewed Hope Agenda as a unifying national message.

Minister of Finance Wale Edun also commended the President on behalf of the Federal Executive Council, pledging continued commitment to implementing the next phase of reforms.

“A major highlight of the summit was the presentation of a compendium outlining the achievements recorded under the Tinubu administration”.
