Authorities in Kano have moved to strengthen coordination between security and emergency agencies, as the Kano State Police Command and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reaffirmed their commitment to joint disaster response efforts.

This development followed a courtesy visit by the North-West Zonal Director of  National Emergency Management Agency,  Alhajis Aliyu S. Kafindangi, to the Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, at the Bompai Police Headquarters.

Speaking during the visit, Kafindangi emphasized the importance of closer collaboration between both institutions, noting that effective disaster management requires strong partnerships.

He described the police as critical first responders who help secure emergency scenes before NEMA personnel commence operations.

According to him, the visit was aimed at strengthening existing ties and identifying new areas for cooperation to improve public safety.

In his response, CP Bakori welcomed the delegation and highlighted the long-standing working relationship between the police and NEMA.

He said both agencies play complementary roles in safeguarding lives and property, stressing that the police remain committed to supporting emergency management efforts across the state.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss strategies for improved coordination, including information sharing, joint training exercises, and other collaborative initiatives designed to enhance emergency response.
