APC Volunteer Hails Tinubu’s Shettima Endorsement, Security Gains

The National Director General of APC Volunteer, Sir Victor Walsh Oluwafemi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reaffirming Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, describing the decision as a reflection of confidence, continuity and strategic leadership.

In a statement personally signed at the weekend, Oluwafemi said the President’s decision would strengthen public confidence in an administration that has remained focused on economic reforms, institutional development and improving national security despite inheriting significant economic and security challenges.

He said the Tinubu-Shettima partnership has demonstrated resilience and a shared commitment to steering Nigeria through a period of national transformation, adding that successful governments are built on trust, consistency and a common vision.

Oluwafemi also congratulated President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security and intelligence agencies over the successful rescue of kidnapped children, describing the operation as a major victory for the country.

According to him, the rescue has restored hope to affected families and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian government to safeguarding the lives of its citizens.

He praised security personnel for their sacrifices in protecting the nation, noting that although insecurity remains a major challenge, recent months have witnessed improved coordination among security agencies, intelligence-led operations, successful rescue missions and sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks across the country.

Oluwafemi urged the Federal Government to build on these gains by investing more in intelligence gathering, surveillance technology, border security, community engagement and improved welfare for members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies.

He, however, cautioned against what he described as attempts by some political actors to exploit security challenges for partisan purposes.

According to him, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes affect all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity or religion, stressing that national security should never become a campaign tool.

He called on political leaders, opinion moulders and public commentators to exercise restraint and patriotism, warning that inflammatory political narratives could undermine public confidence, embolden criminal elements and weaken national unity.

Oluwafemi also observed that Nigeria’s security situation is closely watched by investors, development partners and the international community, noting that every successful security operation enhances the country’s reputation and strengthens investor confidence.

He stressed the need for Nigerians to support security institutions while holding them accountable through constructive criticism, saying responsible engagement would strengthen democracy rather than weaken national resolve.

The APC Volunteer Director General reaffirmed the organisation’s support for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as they continue implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence and work collectively towards building a safer, stronger and more prosperous nation.
