The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board says it has settled all outstanding refunds for intending pilgrims following a cut in the 2026 Hajj fare.
Speaking to reporters, Board Director General Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle said payments have been finalized for pilgrims who deposited the earlier, higher amount.
The refunds were disbursed in about five batches to cover the difference between the initial and revised costs.
Matawalle explained that the fare was first pegged at ₦8,500,000 before being lowered to ₦7,696,813. The balance has now been paid out in full to those affected.
“We have concluded payment of all remaining refunds to pilgrims who made early deposits.
The exercise was carried out in several batches,” he stated.
He urged any pilgrim who has not yet received their refund to check with their bank or reach out to the designated Hajj official in their local government area for assistance.
Matawalle added that the board has met its commitment and remains focused on transparency and accountability in handling Hajj arrangements.
Officials say the move should strengthen trust among pilgrims as preparations for the 2026 pilgrimage continue.
