Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on the people of the state to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 elections.

The governor made the appeal on Saturday at the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, Kano, during a political gathering where 136,040 members of opposition parties and political groups formally joined the APC.

Those who defected were said to have come from the Kwankwasiyya movement, New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NNDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties.

Yusuf said the Federal Government had demonstrated its commitment to Kano through projects and interventions in road construction, agriculture, water supply and security.

He maintained that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration was producing visible results in the state and deserved continuity.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu is truly working, and in Kano, we are feeling the impact of the programme from all angles of human endeavour.

“Therefore, President Tinubu deserves a second term in office to complete the good work he started,” the governor said.

Yusuf also pointed to his administration’s Kano First initiative, saying it had led to improvements in road infrastructure, education, healthcare and human capital development across the state.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group, Dr Umar Tanko Yakasai, praised the president for measures he said had helped stabilise the Nigerian economy.

Yakasai said the administration had increased allocations to states through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and undertaken major infrastructure projects.

He listed the completion of the Kano-Kaduna Road and ongoing projects on the Gwarzo-Dayi, Katsina and Daura roads among the Federal Government’s interventions benefiting the state.

According to him, more than 50 Kano indigenes have also been appointed into positions in the Federal Government.

Former APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed confidence in the party’s support base in Kano, assuring President Tinubu that the state would back his re-election bid.
