The proposed wedding arrangement between Kano-based social media content creator Idris Mai Wushirya and his dwarf partner, Basira ‘Yar Guda, has collapsed after the Kano State Hisbah Board announced the cancellation of the entire process.

According to the Hisbah Board, the alleged romantic relationship between the two TikTokers, which was originally referred to the board for formalisation, was found to be a pretentious arrangement staged by the offenders to evade legal consequences for their previous actions.

Deputy Commander of the Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahedeen Aminuddeen, confirmed the development, stating that the decision to cancel the proposed wedding followed the outcome of an investigation that revealed the insincerity of both parties.Although Dr. Mujahedeen noted that both social media personalities had submitted blood samples to confirm their medical compatibility, he explained that the process was halted to avoid further complications.

He added that the case will now be returned to court if the matter is not reconciled.

“After our investigation, we discovered that the proposed marriage was not based on mutual understanding but rather an attempt to evade legal consequences. The board, therefore, resolved to cancel the wedding to prevent future conflict,” he said.Earlier, Magistrate Halima Wali of a Kano

Magistrate Court had stepped down her ruling on charges of ‘immoral conduct’ filed by the Kano State Censorship Board against Wushirya and Yar Guda. The charges followed the release of a controversial video on Wushirya’s social media page.Subsequently, Magistrate Wali referred the TikTokers to the Hisbah Board to arrange their proposed wedding after both defendants openly confessed in court to being in love and planning to marry before their prosecution.

The court, after accepting their plea, gave the Hisbah Board a 60-day notice to perfect the wedding arrangements in accordance with Islamic traditions.

It also directed the board to return the case to court if the marriage did not materialise.

The court’s decision sparked controversy and public backlash, with many alleging that it amounted to a forced marriage order.

However, the Kano State Judiciary dismissed the claim, describing it as a gross misinterpretation of the court’s ruling.

In an interview with factstreamnews, the judiciary’s spokesperson, Baba Jibo, cautioned the public against being misled by social media reports, emphasizing that the court never ordered a forced marriage between the two TikTokers. ”Let me restate, for emphasis, that Magistrate Wali never ruled on any forced marriage case.

The record of proceedings is available for anyone to verify. I was surprised by the misinformation and public reaction.”What the court did was to suspend its ruling and, for the sake of fairness, refer the two TikTokers to Hisbah to formalise their marriage.

The opportunity was granted after the defendants claimed they were lovers and said the viral pictures were their pre-wedding photos.

“For clarity, both TikTokers told the court they love each other. In fact, the lady, Bashira Yar Guda, stated on the record that she would marry Idris only if he provided his own accommodation, not a rented house. It was based on this confession that the court suspended its ruling to allow the marriage process to hold,” Jibo explained.
