Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area, Alhaji Hamza Durya, after he was abducted in Kano State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs and signed by the Commissioner, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.

According to the statement, the victim was kidnapped at his residence in Durya village, Kibiya Local Government Area.

It noted that security agencies quickly swung into action following the incident, leading to a coordinated operation by DSS operatives in the state.

The statement added that the victim was successfully rescued, while two suspected kidnappers were arrested with gunshot injuries during the operation.

The state government described the rescue as a major success and praised security agencies for their swift response and professionalism.

It also said the development highlights the effectiveness of ongoing security efforts across the 44 local government areas of the state.

The government further appreciated the support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in strengthening the capacity of security agencies.

Residents were urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to relevant authorities to help maintain peace and security.
