The All Progressives Congress National Assembly Legislative Aides Support Group (ANALAG) has commenced nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the return of APC lawmakers.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, the group’s National Coordinator, Amb. Ayoola Ronke Fakunle, said the organisation was targeting the mobilisation of at least one million supporters in each of Nigeria’s 36 states.
Fakunle explained that ANALAG, comprising legislative aides and supporters of members of the National Assembly, would use its grassroots structures to build wider support for the president and APC candidates.
She said the group’s position was informed by what it described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration and the contributions of APC lawmakers to national development.
According to her, the administration has taken difficult but necessary decisions to address some of the country’s long-standing economic challenges, including the removal of fuel subsidy.
Fakunle, however, called for increased government intervention in education and healthcare, as well as additional support for young graduates, to cushion the effects of the ongoing economic reforms.
She disclosed that the group had already established coordinators across the 36 states and would commence its grassroots mobilisation activities nationwide following its engagements in Abuja.
The National Secretary of ANALAG, Barr. Mike Anibueze, described the Abuja event as the formal launch of the group’s nationwide mobilisation drive.
Anibueze said the organisation would deploy its extensive grassroots network to canvass support for Tinubu and APC lawmakers, while urging the government to sustain policies that improve the welfare of Nigerians.
He stressed the importance of continued investment in critical sectors, particularly education and healthcare.
Also speaking, a South-East representative of the group, William Onyemaechi, said legislative aides were strategically positioned to mobilise voters because of their direct links with constituents.
Onyemaechi appealed to Nigerians, particularly young people, to support the administration, citing the removal of fuel subsidy and moves towards greater local government autonomy as examples of its reform agenda.
He acknowledged that the full impact of some of the policies might not be immediate, urging Nigerians to remain patient as the reforms take effect.
Another member, Hajiya Halimat Akokhia, expressed optimism about Tinubu’s chances in 2027, saying members of the group were prepared to mobilise voters across the country for his re-election.
