The Federal High Court has announced the death of Hon. Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa of the Kano Judicial Division, who died on May 21, 2026, after a short illness.
Justice Yunusa reportedly passed away at the State Medical Centre in Kano and was buried in line with Islamic rites.

In a statement, the court described the late jurist as a dedicated and upright judicial officer whose service to the Bench and the legal profession would remain memorable.

The court noted that Justice Yunusa distinguished himself through commitment, integrity, and steadfast devotion to the administration of justice throughout his years on the Bench.

The statement added that his death is a painful loss to the judiciary, members of the Bar, court personnel, and many others who worked closely with him during his career.

The Chief Judge, judges, management, and staff of the Federal High Court expressed sympathy to the deceased’s family and prayed for divine strength for them during the difficult period.

The statement, signed by the Director of Information of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Catherine Oby Christopher, also prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the late judge’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
