AFCON Trophy Arrives In Lagos, Fans Rejoice

The Super excitement for the upcoming 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), officially ignited as organisers launched the highly anticipated AFCON Trophy Tour right in the heart of Lagos, Nigeria.

This monumental event marks the start of a continent-wide journey for the prestigious trophy, building anticipation and bringing the spirit of African football directly to fans ahead of the tournament finals.

The launch ceremony at TotalEnergies headquarters in Victoria Island was a vibrant affair, drawing top football officials, sponsors, and enthusiastic supporters, all eager to see the symbol of African football excellence up close.
Managing Director of

TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, Dr Samba Seye, said the tour celebrated Africa’s passion for football.

He said TotalEnergies, in partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), aimed to share the AFCON trophy with millions across five African countries.

The trophy begins its exceptional journey in Lagos today, bringing together football fans to experience the excitement of Africa’s biggest football event,” Seye said.

“We are proud to host the first stage of the tour here in Lagos to kick off the 2025 tournament. Football represents energy, joy and unity.”

TotalEnergies, Mrs Olunfunmilayo Gombe, thanked stakeholders, CAF, the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their collaboration.

She also appreciated media partners and fans whose passion energised the game, noting Nigeria’s pride in hosting the tour’s first stop.

The trophy parade moved from Eko Towers through Victoria Island to Ikeja, thrilling cheering crowds along the route.

For Lagos residents, it was a unique opportunity to experience the pre-tournament buzz, serving as a powerful reminder of the continental spectacle that awaits in the summer of 2025.
