The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) Branch, has issued the Taraba State Government a final 14-day ultimatum to fully implement outstanding provisions of the 2025 Federal Government/ASUU agreement.
The union warned that failure to address the unresolved issues by September 28, 2026, could lead to lawful industrial action.
The branch chairperson, Dr. Garba Mbave Joshua, disclosed this in a statement, saying the ultimatum runs from September 14 to September 28.
Joshua said the union remained committed to dialogue and constructive engagement but expected the government to take immediate steps to resolve outstanding matters affecting the university and its members.
He acknowledged the efforts of the Taraba State Government in addressing some of the challenges facing the university, including the implementation of aspects of the 2025 FGN/ASUU agreement.
However, he said several critical provisions of the agreement remained unresolved and required urgent attention.
According to him, the 14-day notice represents the union’s final opportunity for the government to demonstrate commitment to fully implementing the outstanding provisions.
Joshua warned that while ASUU preferred peaceful engagement, the union would be compelled to adopt lawful measures to protect the interests of its members if the issues remained unresolved after the expiration of the ultimatum.
The union expressed optimism that the government would respond promptly to preserve industrial harmony, ensure uninterrupted academic activities and maintain stability at the university.
ASUU also called on stakeholders to support efforts to sustain a peaceful, stable and productive academic environment at Taraba State University.
