The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kano State Chapter, in collaboration with KALAMED, has called for a society free from thuggery, drug abuse and other social vices.
The call was made at a Maulud celebration organised by the two organisations, where speakers urged Muslims to emulate the exemplary character, moral discipline and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Speaking at the event, Commander of the Kano State Hisbah Board Women’s Wing, Dr. Khadija Sagir, urged parents to instil in their children love for Prophet Muhammad (SAW), his Sunnah and noble character.
She stressed the need for parents to provide their children with adequate love, attention and guidance, while building strong relationships with them to help protect young people from thuggery, drug abuse, criminality and other social vices.
The Chairperson of NAWOJ Kano State Chapter, Sayyida Bahijja Kabara, said the programme was organised to remind members and the wider society of the importance of living by the moral teachings and exemplary conduct of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

She urged parents to raise their children with love, discipline and proper guidance, stressing that responsible parenting was essential to producing responsible citizens and good ambassadors of society.
Sayyida Bahijja also called on journalists to uphold professionalism, integrity and good character in the discharge of their duties, while using their platforms to promote peace, unity and positive values.

Also speaking, Sayyida Zainab Mu’azzam Kabara urged journalists to put into practice the lessons from the lectures and emulate the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his companions in their personal conduct and professional service.

Other speakers, including Hajiya Ummulkhairi Abubakar Chigari and Ummulkhairi Dahiru Umar Sorondinki, highlighted the importance of sound moral upbringing and adherence to positive values.
The event was attended by Hajiya Rabi Gwadabawa, Vice President, Zone A, NAWOJ, who travelled from Sokoto State. She commended NAWOJ Kano for organising the programme, describing such initiatives as important for promoting unity, moral development and responsible citizenship.

Senior women journalists, NAWOJ members and other distinguished personalities also attended the occasion.
The programme ended with prayers for lasting peace, unity and security in Kano State and Nigeria, as well as divine guidance and protection for the nation and its people.
