In a major move to strengthen technical and vocational education, the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Kano State Government have commenced plans to upgrade the Aliko Dangote Ultra Modern Skills Acquisition Center into a world-class training hub.

The development came to the fore during a high-level visit by a Federal Government delegation to the centre, where the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board (STSB), Professor Dahiru Sale Mohammed, represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to receive the team.

The delegation, dispatched under the directive of the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, who chairs the national skills council, included key stakeholders in Nigeria’s education and skills development sector. Among them were Dr Nabila, Technical Adviser to the Minister of Education; Dr. Hafiz, Executive Secretary of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF); as well as representatives of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The visit underscores a tripartite partnership aimed at repositioning the centre through modernization of facilities, expansion of training programmes, and alignment with national and industry standards.

Speaking during the engagement, Professor Dahiru emphasized the Kano State Government’s commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education, noting that the collaboration would significantly enhance skills acquisition, youth empowerment, and job creation in the state.

He described the initiative as a critical step toward transforming the centre into a leading institution for practical learning and innovation, capable of producing a skilled workforce that meets the demands of modern industries.

The executive secretary said the state government is committed to engage private sector in supporting education and workforce development, while federal agencies ensures that the upgrade aligns with national policies and quality standards.

The initiative according to professor Dahiru, reflects a broader national strategy to bridge the skills gap, promote entrepreneurship, and drive economic growth, particularly among young people.

The Aliko Dangote Ultra Modern Skills Acquisition Center is expected to benefit from improved infrastructure, enhanced training modules, and stronger institutional partnerships, positioning it as a centre of excellence in technical and vocational education in Kano State and beyond.

The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to revitalize skills development in Nigeria, with Kano State emerging as a key hub for innovation and capacity building.
