Eid-Fitr: NUJ President Lauds Kano Correspondent Chapel’s Unity Drive

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhassan Yahaya has praised the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel for fostering unity, cooperation, and professional growth among journalists.

He gave the commendation at the Press Centre in Kano state during the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr thanksgiving, special prayers, and celebration organised by the chapel to mark the end of Ramadan.

Yahya, who was represented by Abba Ibrahim said he was impressed with the chapel’s activities over the past year under the leadership of Murtala Adewale.

He noted that such initiatives promote compassion, unity, and collective responsibility, especially in addressing national issues like food security and insecurity.

He urged other NUJ chapels across the country to emulate the Kano group by organising similar programmes that strengthen solidarity within theprofessio.ee9fdf73 20cc 42e1 b058 3af9c5f5947d

In his remarks, Yakubu Mai Nasara Kurfi of Bayero University Kano, who described the event as inspiring and encouraged the chapel to sustain the initiative.

He also called for stronger collaboration between the NUJ, practicing journalists, and the academic community to enhance training and professional development.

Also speaking, the Kano State NUJ Chairman, Suleman Abdullahi Dederi, represented by Mustapha Gambo said the gathering symbolised unity and togetherness within the chapel and the wider NUJ family.

Earlier, Adewale described the event as an opportunity for reflection on the values of Ramadan, including sacrifice, discipline, and empathy.

The event featured prayers and a thanksgiving gathering to mark the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and to seek continued peace and progress.
